Students of Theodoropoulos Schools Support the 24 Hours for Marili Initiative
The students of Theodoropoulos Schools extended their heartfelt support to the "24 Hours for Marili" initiative by generously donating toys, gifts, and food to the cause.
This touching initiative, now in its second year, seeks to honor the memory of little Marili Kanelaki, a young girl who inspired many with her bravery and courage during her fight against illness. As the two-year anniversary of her passing approached, the community came together once again to commemorate her legacy through acts of kindness.
On the afternoon of New Year's Eve, paddling athlete Giorgos Kleinakis took to the waters of Souda Bay with his paddleboard, embarking on a 24-hour continuous paddle challenge within the bay. His effort symbolizes resilience and determination, reflecting the values Marili embodied. The event aimed to rally citizens to support local social welfare programs by donating food and other essentials.
The contributions will benefit several key organizations in Chania, including the Social Grocery of the Municipality of Chania, the Social Grocery of the Regional Unit of Chania, the Volunteer Support and Assistance Association "Horizontas," the Philanthropic Soup Kitchen of Splantzia, and the Child and Youth Protection Branch of Chania. This inspiring initiative serves as a reminder of the strength found in unity and the power of giving back to the community, all in loving memory of Marili.
